Question of the week:
3 bits of news
Munich S-bahn Stammstrecke is closed this weekend
Yes, you heard that right. You need to find an alternative this weekend if you are traveling between Ostbahnhof and Hackerbrücke (from Friday, August 26, 10:30 p.m. to Monday, August 29, 4:40 a.m.). It’s closed due to construction work.
As I write, I feel sorry for those who might be affected (including me) but there will be buses running every 7 minutes (not every 15 minutes.)
S1 will run regularly between Freising/airport and Moosach. Between Moosach and Hauptbahnhof without stops and only every half hour.
S2 and S4 will begin/end at Hackerbrücke.
S3 will begin/end in Pasing.
S6 will begin/end at Hauptbahnhof and will not stop between Pasing and Hauptbahnhof.
S7 will begin/end at Hauptbahnhof and will not stop at Hackerbrücke.
From/to the East:
S2, S3, S4, S6, S7 will start/end at Ostbahnhof.
You can find the details here (in German).
Reserve a seat at a Oktoberfest table for as low as €79/person
I can’t believe that this is still available: a customized Oktoberfest package for you.
What do you get for €79/person?
Reservation for a seat at an Oktoberfest table in the tent of your choice
Food and beer vouchers (individually by brewery and date, details under included services)
Official Oktoberfest 2022 beer stein
Voucher for one of three guided tours (Wiesnführung, Altstadtführung, Münchner Kindl Tour) with an official guide from the state capital of Munich
You pick a tent, and then each beer hall has a slightly different offer for you. You can learn more here.
And these are the available booking times:

How to optimize for best electricity consumption this fall
Unless you are living under a rock, we all know that gas and electricity prices are going to increase.
There are three devices (power guzzlers) in your home that you need to keep an eye on to save energy and money.
TVs (depending on the size) are power guzzlers. Disconnect them from the power source as soon as you’ve stopped watching.
Game consoles are among the secret power guzzlers in your household. “With a daily gaming time of two hours, console gamers who use the current top models incur electricity costs of up to 36 euros per year,” reports the energy provider EON. Pull the plug once you’ve stopped gaming
WLan routers: Turn off your WLan router at night.

Some other relevant news in case you missed:
2 upcoming events
Learn Bavarian line dance and impress your future partner like a pro
If you are into Bavarian culture (like me), make this move (I wish I had!)
It’s a free event that combines American line dance with traditional Bavarian music and dance moves (komisch!).
Dancing is contactless and suitable for everyone, even without previous dance experience. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended.
I know what you are thinking, who’d go to an event like this. Well, if you are single – then why not? ;) It’s happening every Monday: August 29, September 5th and 12th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m...
You can find more information at www.volkskultur-muenchen.de and
Robbie Williams is in town
I don’t need to sell you on Robbie or the event.
If you have no plans on Saturday, August 27th, check out this concert. Tickets are a bit pricey but Robbie is definitely worth the money.
Important: the S2 will run eastbound on the night of August 27th to 28th between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. from Ostbahnhof without stopping at Hauptbahnhof.
You can buy tickets here.
One Café/Restaurant to try
Coucou Food Market
Pizza, tacos, french breakfast – whatever you like – it is freshly prepared and cooked at Coucou Food Market. There are three shops in Munich at Nymphenburgerstraße, Theresienstraße, and Sankt-Jakobs-Platz.
One reviewer said:
The pizza is quite good! However, definitely order a dessert while you’re there. I’ve had the brownies and chocolate torte and they are both delicious!!
Edit: I went back for more dessert and the carrot cake is the best I’ve ever eaten!!! I want more!!
Ready to try?
